Junior Year, Judson University

Architecture as Impact

Our third year was meant to draw us into the philosophy of arhitecture, forced us to ponder the question of context. See below for my attempt at bringing life to a parking lot.
  • The objective was to design a library; a public space which would act as both a communal center and as a space which would draw people by foot into the nearby commercial center of the town.
  • I thought that was silly, that no one uses libraries, and that throwing a building on the site would cause more division between residencies and buisnesses.
  • So, I designed a building which would be fun to walk through, and which hid the books and lounging areas in a place where they'd be temperature controlled and free from the crippling grasp of time: underground.
